headphones use as hearing aid

My husband is 92 and bedridden. We just purchased D4169 Dual wireless Headphones & Transmitter TV set. He likes using the over the ear headphones. The in the ear phones do work because they have a tendency to fall out with the movement of his head and the pillow. Can the over the ear phones be somehow used as an hearing aid? Thank you.
